Week 18 of the NFL regular season will begin on Saturday with the Browns and Ravens at 4:30 p.m. ET. Baltimore needs a win or tie to clinch an AFC North division title and secure the No. 3 seed in the AFC playoffs. Below, we take a look at betting trends, stats, and notes for this matchup ahead of kickoff.
Browns to start Bailey Zappe at QB, Dorian Thompson-Robinson likely to play as well.
On Saturday, Bailey Zappe will become the 40th starting quarterback for the Browns since 1999. Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who has started each of the team’s last 2 games, is also expected to get playing time in Week 18, but head coach Kevin Stefanski has been vague about how much and when he will see the field.
Zappe joined the Browns on October 22 and has been used primarily to help run scout team at practice during the week. Zappe, a 4th round draft pick in 2022 out of Western Kentucky, owns a career 11:12 TD:INT ratio and has taken 31 sacks in 14 games. Since the beginning of 2022, Zappe ranks 59th in EPA/play, 58th in success rate, and 46th in CPOE among 59 quarterbacks with 300+ plays logged.
Thompson-Robinson, a 5th round draft pick in 2023 out of UCLA, has been equally as unproductive as Zappe during his short NFL tenure. Since the beginning of last season, Thompson-Robinson ranks 51st in EPA/play, 50th in success rate, and 52nd in CPOE among 52 quarterbacks with 250+ plays logged.
